State Funding to Expand Accessibility to ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Woods
ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø was recently awarded a $396,960 grant for ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Woods: Accessibility in Action by the Connecticut Recreational Trails Grant Program through the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). The project will expand accessibility of ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Woods to a broad range of users, including college students, seniors, preschool and school-age children, hearing- and sight-impaired individuals, and the greater community.

As an Eligible Training Provider in Connecticut, ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø makes it possible for eligible learners able to obtain certifications in technology, business operations, and health and wellness and have the full cost of training covered by WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) funding.
Congratulations to the Class of 2024
In a year the college is celebrating its 85th anniversary, ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø held its 80th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 11, on the college green with the Thames River as a backdrop. Under sunny skies and surrounded by cheering friends and family, graduates received their diplomas from President Tracy Y. Espy, Ph.D., who conferred 10 associate degrees and 102 bachelor degrees.
Baseball Heads to NCAA Regional Championship Game
With an overall record of 34-11, the Mariners have matched the program’s all-time win total and will need just one victory on Sunday, May 19, to advance to the Super Regional Round for the first time in program history. ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø plays Salisbury at 11 a.m.
Baseball Will Open NCAA Tournament on Friday at Babson Regional
After capturing the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championship during their inaugural season in the conference, the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø baseball team earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. They will travel to Babson College, which was selected as one of 16 regional hosts, and are scheduled to play Friday, May 17, at 1:30 p.m.
9/11 Survivor Named Commencement Speaker
ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø marks its 80th Commencement Exercises on Sat., May 11, with 9/11 survivor Dan Holdridge delivering the keynote address to the Class of 2024. The ceremony takes place at 10 a.m. on the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Green.
Walk for Suicide Prevention
ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø invites the community to attend A Story Unfinished: Walk for Suicide Prevention on Sunday, April 14, 2024, 11:30 a.m.–3 p.m. Hosted by the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Mental Health Club and the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Commuter Association, the event raises money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Participation is free, but the fundraising goal for the walk is $5,000. The event takes place rain or shine.
Black History Month Event Draws Hundreds
Several hundred attendees converged on the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø campus on Feb. 25 during Black History Month for a community celebration of Black heritage and culture called “Letting OUR Voices Be Heard.” Conceived and organized by first-year student-athlete Inonda Christine Peterson, the event featured dozens of Black performers, artists, businesses and organizations. Plans are already underway for next year’s event
Children’s Songs Conference and Festival
Celebrate children’s songs and learn about children’s music at the “Artists & Educators Children’s Songs Conference & Festival,” 9am–3pm, Saturday, April 6, in the Clarke Center at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø. The event features a conference geared toward musicians and educators and a Festival of Song that is open to the public.
